What is Apologetics?

Apologetics may be simply defined as the defense of the Christian faith. The word “apologetics” derives from the Greek word apologia, which was originally used as a speech of defense or an answer given in reply. In ancient Athens it referred to a defense made in the courtroom as part of the normal judicial procedure. After the accusation, the defendant was allowed to refute the charges with a defense or reply (apologia). The word appears 17 times in noun or verb form in the New Testament, and both the noun (apologia) and verb form (apologeomai) can be translated “defense” or “vindication” in every case.

What This Upcoming Election Means

"You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." ― Morpheus, to Neo  The term red pill refers to a human that is aware of the true nature of the Matrix.

Did the Universe Begin to Exist?

Over the past several weeks, I have been finding myself running into skeptics who are willing to take the leap and say that the universe has always been, and did not have a beginning to its existence. When I ask them about Sir Edwin Hubble's telescope about half of them claim that they haven't given it much thought.

The reason is the influence of the likes of Carl Sagan, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson's program, on PBS/Fox respectively called "Cosmos."  If you go back as far as I do, you might recall the opening line, "The cosmos [universe] is all that is, or was or ever will be."  According to this view held by many pop skeptics, it is stating that the cosmos (vis-a-vis the universe) had no beginning. If the universe had no beginning then what is the need for a Beginner is their thinking?
